Our Story

RENT by tay b was established on the 22nd March 2021. Owner, Taylah Brown, loved dressing her best and could never wear something more than twice. She thought why not rent out the expensive garments she purchased? A business was born. At first, RENT by tay b was being run out of the family bathroom, not ideal for a small business. After a month, we grew rapidly and soon realised we needed a bigger space.

At Taylah’s home, there was a back room that had been gathering dust for over 12 years. Taylah saw that the space had potential to be RENT by tay b’s next location. She then began renovating the room, mostly herself with the help of family and friends along the way, but 5 months later the studio was finally finished. The only problem was that Victoria was in its 6th lockdown (worlds longest lockdown) when the studio was ready for clients. During this unfortunate time, Taylah put her focus towards the systems of the RENT by tay b. She organised a POS system and she knew one thing was missing.

A website. With her marketing and business management degree behind her, she began researching and seeing in which ways her website could be different from other rental/hiring pages. After a couple of weeks, lockdown’s ending, a photoshoot was much needed to capture the amazing garments that RENT by tay b stocked. After thousands of photos and beautiful models, photos were carefully selected and added to the website. RENT by tay b was finally ready for the world to see. Our Studio, our garments, our website !
